Port Dickson Beach

This is a view of the beach beside The Legends Water Chalets and Glory Beach Resort, Port Dickson, Malaysia. It was low tide in the morning and we took a stroll along this beach. We enjoyed the scenery of swaying coconut palms, cool fresh breezes, blue skies and vast expense of water that stretches as far as the eyes could see. As we pass by an oil palm tree, we could hear some chirping sound. And true enough, when I looked closer, I saw a family of asian glossy starlings feasting on the fruits of the oil palm tree. These tiny little black birds have striking red eyes and they were very shy. I guess they were having their breakfast at the usual hangout.

The orange boat in front is a kayak for rental. Further up, there's another old boat but this one is for display only.

The visit here brought back a lot of fond memories of times spent with family and friends. I first came here when I was a freshie at an institution of higher learning. I was barely 20 then. Being students, we didn't have a lot of money, so we stayed at the cheaper chalets. We had a lot of fun frolicking at the beach during the day and at night, we partied and dance under the moon and stars. The music came from the lapping waves. By midnight we were scaring the guts out of each other with bizzare ghost stories. Well, those were the times...

Along the path that leads to the beach, we came across this beautiful Thunbergia Grandiflora, growing vibrantly along the fencing. It is a giant vine with cascading pale purple flowers and large green leathery leaves. Native to India, this plant is also known as the Bengal clock vine. The flowers look like a giant morning glory. Some fat black bees were already buzzing around, busy collecting nectar for their Queen.
