The Rainforest of 1-Utama

Today is ABC Wednesday Round 5

R is for ...... Rainforest

The Rainforest of 1-Utama is located inside the 1-Utama Shopping Complex in Petaling Jaya. There are 100 species of flora and fauna with real forest trees and flowering plants in the rainforest garden. This picture shows a man-made waterfall landscaped with beautiful rocks and boulders. The rainforest gives visitors a chance to learn, appreciate and experience nature in tranquil surroundings. One can just sit here to rest, recharge and rejuvenate after a tiring day of walking and bargain hunting at the shops. How very relaxing. Soon you will feel much refreshed.

There is a pletora of koi fishes swiming happily around this man-made river. Can you see some reflections on the water?

It was reported that this shopping complex also practices the environmental friendly principles, i.e. the 3Rs of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle on its resources.

Today's post is an entry in ABC Wednesday Round 5, the meme initiated by Denise Nesbitt. For more information and photos, please log on to this site.

  6. "The rainforest gives visitors a chance to learn, appreciate and experience nature in tranquil surroundings."

Kind of irony, considering that this is a tropical country. By right we should have easy access to the 'real' rain forest.

  7. Lovely idea for a shopping mall. The sight and sound of water are so relaxing and koi are endlessly fascinating.

  8. Incredible that they are able to merged the natural rain-forest right smack in the shopping mall! I got to visit this place soon.

  9. Kheng Siong, you have made a meaningful comment. I agree with you when you used the word 'irony'. We actually have real rainforests near to us. But many of us do not appreciate them in their natural environment. When we go to KLCC and 1-U, we go to shop. How many of us, locals, actually visit the KLCC Park, sit on the green grass and look at the indigeneous trees there? Most of the time, I only see tourists visiting these places. But with the rainforest inside 1-U, many of us have a chance to appreciate the beauty and tranquility of nature because we pass by this place during our shopping. We go there to sit down and rest and in the process 'discover' how beautiful nature can be.

  10. Jama, when you go to 1-Utama, do pay a visit to The Secret Garden too. But this garden is only opened on Sat and Sun. To view more flowers from the Secret Garden, please visit My Nice Garden blog.

  11. I would love to do all my shopping in that shopping centre! We used to have fountains in ours, nothing like as beautiful as your rainforest and river, but still, they freshened the air. I hate it in there now the fountains are gone.

Water has a wonderful way of refreshing the air and the spirit.
