Ipoh Old Town to New Town Junction

“Ipoh Old Town to New Town Junction”, a copyrighted post, was written for Klang, Malaysia Daily Photo blog by Autumn Belle @ http://mymalaysiadailyphoto.blogspot.com/.

This is the junction that leads from Ipoh Old Town to the New Town area. In Ipoh New Town, we have the big shopping complexes, government offices and the famous Ipoh Salt Baked Chicken, Ipoh Bean Sprouts Chicken, Pomelo stalls and even the Frozen Roasted Duck.

Ipoh Old Town is famous for its heritage buildings, book shops and the most delicious food from the coffee shops and hawkers who have their family secret recipes. As a Perakian, I was (and still am) very proud of Ipoh food and used to boast that it is the "Best in Malaysia" of which my friends from Penang will be extremely aggitated and will always interrupt me by saying, "Ahem, Penang food is world famous!"

What is the most famous food in your city?

  1. Well, we have the Catfish Festival over in neighboring Shoals and the Strawberry Festival here in Loogootee and corn is pretty popular around the fourth of July and then there is always apple pie. Even asked my wife what food this area was famous for - nothing jumped off the plate, so to speak. Got us thinking, Bell. Haven't had breakfast yet so the tummy came to life as well.

  4. That's a great picture and I love the B&W. In San Francisco, there are so many different cultures, but I would have to say that we are known for our Dungenous Crab.

  5. Oooo Ipoh Hor Fun, I first ate that when I was in Ipoh when I was a child. I hope to visit Ipoh one day. Our signature dish must be the chilli crabs and chicken rice. Have a nice day.

  6. I think it's Japanese food. Sushi is really popular here. There's also a lot of Vietnamese restaurants so I think Vietnamese noodle soup - pho- is also very popular.
