In conjunction with our Malaysia's 53rd National Day (Independence Day or Hari Merdeka)
which falls on 31st August 2010,

This is my inspirational quote for today:

"A battle lost or won is easily described, understood, and appreciated,
but the moral growth of a great nation requires reflection,
as well as observation, to appreciate it."

UPDATED 6 June 2012
Now you can enjoy the colourful, lighted displays of the KLCC Dancing Fountain from 8pm everyday.

The KLCC Lake Symphony Fountain had undergone a RM10mil upgrade from March-June 2012.

The old fountain which utilized static nozzles and pumps had been in operation for 14 years. It has been upgraded with special Germain technology similar to those in Singapore and Dubai. Now the fountain features our national flower, the hibiscus or "bunga raya", open fan-shaped sprays that dance, sway and spin 360 degrees with a myriad of water patterns in a kaleidoscope of lights that twinkle and gravitate to the music. The dancing fountain is now operational and the show starts at 8pm everyday.

The Bridge Across KLCC Park - Skywatch Friday Episode 4 Episode 22

I was standing on the ground below when I took this picture. Looking up to aim at the peak of the twin towers, I caught this young lady tourist also admiring the skywatch view above.

Can you see the sparkle as sunlight gleams off the stainless steel railings of this bridge?

This 43 meter elevated bridge across KLCC Park provides visitors with a breathtaking view of the park, reflective pools and the magnificient PETRONAS Twin Towers. This steel and glass Islamic architectural marvel that was built with floor plans shaped like an 8 pointer star gained international fame through a recent Hollywood movie, "Entrapment", starring Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Recently on 1 September 2009, a French climber, Alain Robert, aka Spiderman has finally succeeded to climb the 88-storey Tower Two in just over 2 hours. He was reported to have been arrested by the police for trespassing.

This picture was taken on Friday, November 27, a public holiday in Malaysia. During this day muslims around the world celebrate Hari Raya Haji or Aidil Adha or Eid al-Adha . It is also know as "Festival of Sacrifice" or "Greater Eid". Early in the morning, men, women and children dressed in their best go to mosques to perform prayers.

As it was a public holiday, KLCC was crowded with many visitors, both local and foreign. Many also took the opportunity to go for a dip in the pool to cool off during a hot afternoon.

Skywatch Friday Season 4 Episode 20 - Petronas Twin Towers

Petronas Twin Towers is know as Menara Berkembar Petronas in malay, our National Language. Many regard it as the new Malaysian icon and a symbol of our great leap forward.

This 88 storey towers were designed by Argentine-American architect Cesar Pelli and completed in 1998. It took 7 years to build this structure. Upon completion, they were the tallest building in the world until 2004 after being overtaken by Taipei 101.

According to information provide on Petronas Twin Towers official website:

1. Petronas Twin Towers is an integral part of the KLCC development. KLCC is a city-within-a-city, a 103-acre cultivated urban environment of commercial, retail and recreational facilities that includes the 50-acre KLCC park.

2. Pelli was honoured at the Aga Khan Award for Architecture 2004, in New Delhi India, for producing a building concept that successfully addresses the needs and hopes of Islamic societies.

"For the PETRONAS Twin Towers, I tried to express the essences of the country. The building is rooted in tradition, but it is mostly about Malaysia's aspiration and ambition,"
........ Pelli

Petronas is an acronym for Petroliam Nasional Bhd, is Malaysia's national petroleum corporation established on 17 August 1974. It is a Fortune 500 Corporation engaged in oil and gas industry with business in 35 countries.

I'd like to wish all my muslims friends,

SELAMAT HARI RAYA AIDIL ADHA

Symphony Lake of KLCC Park

Today is ABC Wednesday Round 5

Q is for ...... Queue

A group of school children is queueing up behind their teacher. They are going to observe the dancing fountain displays in front of Lake Symphony. Earlier in the day they already had their breakfast of nasi lemak or Quaker oats. Teacher said, "Ssshhh! Be quiet! No pushing, shouting or quarreling. If you are thirsty, you can quench your thirst at the water cooler nearby. But do be quick. The show is going to start soon. Do you have any questions?". I felt a bit queer when suddenly this bunch of noisy kids became very quiet and all of them gazed in the direction of the lake. And soon enough, I saw a jet of water shot high up into the sky, twirling and swinging, as though dancing to the music of an orchestral. It was a breathtaking sight. Some droplets of water even splashed onto me. I was amazed at the quantity of water fountains there.

This couple is from Singapore. They were enjoying the fountain displays and taking lots of photographs of each other. I guess they are spending quality time together and I can see that the lady was treated like a queen by her hubby. I waited for my turn to get some good pictures of the view. Finally, they asked me to help them take a twosome picture of themselves before they walked away. By then, the show was finished already. No chance for me to take any more pictures of the dancing fountains.

According to information from the KLCC website, the Symphony Lake has an area of approximately 10,000 sq meters of fountain displays. The displays consists of 5 programmes of over 380 individually sequenced effects shooting up to a maximum height of 42 meters. The effects are displayed along an arc and the 2 rings totalling 80 meters in length.
Showetime is as follows:
12 noon to 2:00pm and 6:00pm - 11:00pm on weekdays
10:00am - midnight on weekends and public holidays.
