Looks like the weather is going to be fine today, great for family outing, picnics and life in the outdoors. We can try some water sports at the Titiwangsa Lake Gardens, Setapak, Kuala Lumpur. Here, we can also enjoy the scenic views of the Petronas Twin Towers, KL Tower, National Theatre, all national icons.
I am sure this is also a nostalgic place for many couples who had come here before, walking hand in hand, romancing on its grounds. It is on this same place, same site, more than 20 years ago, I first met and fell in love with my hubby. Our first journey in life, together as a couple was riding the pedal boat here. Funny how much physically things and views have changed over the years but deep inside, we are still the same person.

“It is good to realize that if love and peace can prevail on earth,
and if we can teach our children to honour nature's gifts,
the joys and beauties of the outdoors will be here forever.”

I am fascinated by this report under the Star Metro section of our local newspaper The Star, publication dated 20 December 2009, title "Reviving an old Malay custom."
Planting a tree for every birth in the family is a Malay custom that, sadly, is almost lost. Many people are unaware of this tradition.
Recently, the Ampang Jaya Municipal Countil (MPAJ) launched a programme, "Satu Kelahiran, Satu Pokok (One Birth, One Tree) in cooperation with the Ampang Hostpital, Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital and Pantai Hospital. Chinese, Indian and Malay parents were selected to plant trees at an event organised by MPAJ. A total of 60 trees were planted in the empty lot next to the Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital.
The Selangor government has set a target of 90,000 trees for the local countils to plant this year. MPAJ has exceeded the target when they planted 97,000 trees this year.
Participants were very happy that the local councils were doing a good job of balancing development with environment care.
Do you like the idea of planting a tree in your own compound or garden to mark the birth of each of your children?
It is indeed a welcome sight to see such a beautiful bright sky after weeks of rainy days. Hopefully the cumulus clouds do not balloon into nimbus clouds soon. Taman Tasik Titiwangsa or Titawangsa Lake Gardents is a public park located in Setapak, the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur city.
My wish to you today is "Blue Skies and Everything Nice."

This picture is taken at Titiwangsa Lake Gardens.
While you admire the scenery and reflections on the water, I am cracking my head over the signage here. Even when one is standing there on the pavement, it look as though the public toilet is in the lake. Actually it means that you should walk straight until the end where the washroom is located in a building about 100 metres away.
I hope the people involve in placing signages will think and plan before they place signages for giving directions. If the workers are illiterate, then their supervisor should teach them properly. Don't they ever check?
Quite often, tourists get lost on the road, walking up the wrong street due to ambiguous signages. On the road, even our local motorists end up in the wrong road while trying to follow road directions. I have encountered quite a number of times where the road sign is only visible after a turning has been made. By then, it would be too late to change directions. In other cases, the signboard is hidden behind some trees. So, what is the purpose of a signage then?

This picture with the Petronas Twin Towers and KL Tower in the background was taken on November 3rd, at 1:46pm at the Titiwangsa Lake Gardens (Taman Tasik Titiwangsa). It looks like it was going to rain soon as the sky was very dark with heavy rain clouds. But then again, I can see a silver lining behind the dark clouds.
Rain, Rain, Go away, come again another day, all of us want to play.
Would you believe me if I tell you that the skys cleared up by 2:02pm and it was bright and sunny again after a slight drizzle?
Besides drizzles, rain can also come in showers, a downpour or a thunderstorm. Drizzles are like 'Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head' . When rain comes in showers, we can be 'Singing In The Rain'. Sudden downpours may be in the form of heavy rains and strong winds in a small area but it can cause havoc like tress felling and drains overflowing. So, you may most likely be 'Crying In The Rain' if you are all wet with no umbrella, no raincoat and no fresh change of clothes while on the way to work.
Thunderstorms are a common phenomenon in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It occurs all year round and it can occur anytime; usually in the late evenings but it can also occur in the mornings and afternoons.
According to the World Meteorological Organization, a thunderstorm is one or more sudden electrical discharges, manifested by a flash of light (lightning) and a sharp or rumbling sound (thunder).
From my experience, there is usually heavy rain or a gail with frequent lightning and thunder and strong winds. It is definitely not a breeze during a thunderstorm. It can create havoc if it is prolonged. There will be flash floods and landslides.
Facts from the Malaysia Meterological Department:
Thunderstorms can occur throughout the year but are most likely to happen in the intermonsoon periods, namely April to May and October to November. Over land, thunderstorms frequently develop in the afternoon and evening hours while over the sea, thunderstorms are more frequent at night.
Do you like the rain? Are you afraid of the lightning? Have you ever witness a beautiful scene of ligthning as it strikes in the skys?
After the rain, it is time to look for rainbows. Once again, Malaysia is sunny skies and everything nice.
