Today, August 31st, is Malaysia's National Day. Also Hari Kebangsaan, Hari Merdeka or Independence Day. I wish all Malaysians, local and around the world a Happy 52nd Merdeka Day. Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!

Our National Flag or Jalur Gemilang (Stripes of Glory)
As the Bunga Raya (Rosa Sinensis) hibiscus, can be found abundantly everywhere in Malaysia, our first Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Alhaj declared it our national flower in 1960. The five petals of bunga raya symbolise the Rukunegara, our 5 Principles of Nationhood.
