Recycle A Plastic Bottle
The 1-Utama shopping complex is having a Recycle a Plastic Bottle Campaign. I think they are setting a good example to the public.
It is very common nowadays for us to consume drinking water from plastic bottles because it is cheap and convenient. But we need to think about the long term effects of doing this, among them being
a) we are generating a mountain of waste
b) petroleum, a finite resource will be depleted because it is used in the manufacture of plastics
c) more greenhouse gas emissions if production of plastics increases
d) plastics take a long time to decompose, therefore it will take up a lot of landfills space
e) recycled plastic can be put to beneficial use
This is my entry for Think Green Thursday #17. My grateful thanks to Rambling Woods for making this possible. To view what others around the world have to say or to participate, visit here.

A good contribution.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be great if everyone would follow this example? Even better if we would each use our own water bottle, but failing that, we should definitely recycle.
ReplyDeletethat's a good idea.

Hello Autumn Belle. This is a wonderful campaign. Those bottles are so popular in the US and even school children carry them to school. I am trying to do without them as much as possible. Great post for Thinking Green Thursday... Michelle
ReplyDeleteA great reminder.
ReplyDeleteWe do toss so much plastic bottles. Now takeaways come in plastic containers that we also toss.
Surely the government should take the lead to stop practices damaging to the global climate.
