It was a bright and sunny day in October 2009, a perfect day for going to school. Hopefully, this is what is on the mind of the students too. Look! There is even a signboard to congratulate them for coming to school. Hurray! You made it to school.
Yes, that's right. Parents and the school authorities will be very happy if all students goes to school every day and not spend their time playing truant or lepaking (malay term for wasting time), hanging around at shopping complexes and worse still at internet gaming cafes during school hours.
The good news is that public elementary and secondary schools in Malaysia now are having the Year End School Holidays, from 20th Nov 2009 to 3rd Jan 2010 .

I've never seen a sign congratulating the students for finding their school! Maybe if all schools did that, there would be less "lepaking" all around the world! Thanks for the new word, too.

ReplyDeleteI thought that was a cool sign. In many countries just to attend formal schooling is an achievement. So the sign I thought made real sense.

I saw one scary 'hanging loop' to scare and remind pupil about the danger of drug abuse.
