Nan Thean Tong Cave Temple Ipoh

“Nan Thean Tong Cave Temple Ipoh”, a copyrighted post, was written for Klang, Malaysia Daily Photo blog by Autumn Belle @ http://mymalaysiadailyphoto.blogspot.com/ on July 18th, 2010.

Nan Thean Tong is also known as Cave of Southern Heaven was established in 1867. As most typical in Chinese temple, auspicious objects adorn the building and surrounding structures. On top of the roof, there two dragons facing a pagoda. On top of the ground floor, there is a horizontal painting depicting The Eight Immortals at the centre. On the left are a couple of dragons guarding a heavenly pearl. On the right of this picture is the picture of Chinese carps leaping over the Dragon Gate.

Behind this temple is a big, natural vertical rainforest on a limestone hill. In fact this temple is located at the foot of a limestone hill. Limestone hills are one of Ipoh's city's main attractions with its own unique floral and fauna.

This temple is located at Gunung Rapat and this stretch of road has the most number of cave temples. Some examples are Ling Sen Tong, Sam Poh Tong and Kwan Yin Tong.
