A Dragon Sculpture at Chong Kong Tong Temple, Klang

“A Dragon Sculpture at Chong Kong Tong Temple,Klang”, a copyrighted post, was written for Klang, Malaysia Daily Photo blog by Autumn Belle @ http://mymalaysiadailyphoto.blogspot.com/ on July 19, 2010.

A Dragon King (龙王) sculpture made of concrete at the Chong Kong Tong, a Chinese taoist temple located off Jalan Kapar, Klang. I think this is Dragon King because this dragon wears an emperor's crown on its head. He is also holding a brush (left) and a tablet written with word 'King' (right). Dragon King is a Chinese taoist god.

According to taoist beliefs, the 4 Dragon Kings are the devine rulers of the 4 seas. The can also appear in the human form. They live in crystal palaces guarded by shrimp soldiers and crab generals. They rule the aquatic life and they can also manipulate the clouds and rain. When enraged they can flood cities.....Sourced from Wikipedia.

This temple is situated at 24, Jalan Miri Kaw. 18, 41400 Klang, Selangor, Malaysia.

  3. Fascinating! Before I even read your text I was thinking that it looked like it was spewing water or air rather than fire. So interesting to learn about Dragon Kings. Thanks.
